Full course description
In this course you will gain an understanding of the many purposes of questioning and how to execute this challenging skill in your classroom. You will read a number of excerpts addressing how best to compose a questioning script and how to ensure that the questions you pose result in deep thinking on the part of your students.
Then, you will take a deeper dive into questioning to assess learning by moving beyond how you pose the question and considering instead how you respond to students’ incorrect and almost-correct answers in ways that result in maximal learning for your students. Through reading, video, and practice, you will master two new techniques from Lemov’s Taxonomy: “Break It Down” and “Right Is Right.” Used in combination with strong questioning, these techniques will help you to set high academic expectations for your students.
