Full course description
The Relay GSE Computer Science Institute is a professional development program for novice and aspiring secondary (6-12) computer science teachers. Over the course of the 6-month institute (December – May), teachers will be immersed in both computer science content and teaching pedagogy. The program aligns to the K-12 Computer Science Framework and focuses on three of the major computing concepts: algorithms and programming, data and analysis, and the impacts of computing. In addition to learning the fundamentals of programming in Scratch and Python, teachers will also build out their pedagogical toolkit, learning methods like Live Coding and how to build challenge sets to differentiate for a variety of students. Teachers will also have the chance to collaborate with colleagues from around the country on a weekly basis during the synchronous online sessions while they receive feedback from an award-winning computer science educator.
