According to Saphier, Haley-Speca, and Gower in The Skillful Teacher (2008), “Focusing student attention on learning experiences is perhaps the most fundamental management challenge a teacher faces daily, hourly, and moment to moment in any classroom” (p. 19).

In this course, you will learn about five techniques that will help you engage all your students in key learning experiences throughout your lessons: “Wait Time,” “Cold Call,” “Call and Response,” “Everybody Writes,” and Turn and Talk. At the close of the module, you will be assessed on your ability to effectively engage students in your classroom learning experiences.
